The R in LeADERS stands for Research. The field that I want to go into is heavily researched based. The class that I decided to take was Quantitative Methods (PSYC 317). This course dived into the application of inferential statistical principles and psychological research problems. Prior to joining this class, I didn't realize how research-focused psychology was. Throughout the semester, we learned different statistical analyses and how to apply those analyses and interpret the results we got from them. I think this course has broadened my perspective on several facets of psychology. Although I was aware that a large portion of psychology was theoretical, this class allowed us to put a lot of the theoretical knowledge to use by practicing the analyses in the lab portion of the course. PSYC 317 prepared me for other courses in psychology and I believe it is going to prepare me for grad school as well.

 

Future:

I want to work as an epidemiologist. Inferential statistics are heavily utilized in that sector, therefore I'm grateful I had the chance to learn about it at the early stages of my college career. This course served as a springboard for my future professional endeavors. I am better prepared for ideas and concepts I may encounter later in my work by taking this course.
